We’re writing to let you know about our upcoming May 2007 exhibition: “and and,” our first one-person show of work by Andrew Witkin. We will be devoting the entire gallery to his three-part installation of found, altered and handmade sculpture, photography, furniture and textiles. Witkin has collected, created, organized and arranged a variety of elements to present multiple connections between the aural, visual and textual parts. Within structures of both public and private vocabularies, themes of time (durational and directional) and perception (spatial and interpersonal) collide with the real, the imagined, the fabricated and the confused to create a place that is seemingly complete and arranged, yet allows for chance and change. Seeing that the project will not be complete until it is installed, please come see it to understand! The show will open on Friday, May 4th, and remain on view through Saturday, May 26th.

Andrew Witkin's visual, performance and audio works have been seen and heard in “ES Presents” (Chelsea, MA 2006); “Winter White/Back in Black” (Clifford-Smith Gallery, Boston 2004); “Dome Baby” (Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery, Philadelphia 2003) and “Rest Room: Privacy & Consciousness” (BCA, Boston 2002), among other exhibitions. Various performative projects have taken place in the deserts of the southwestern U.S., the rugged terrain of Iceland, the quiet hills of Umbria and the city centers in Istanbul. His most recent collection of audio works, “Transmissions” is hopefully due out later this year.
